Air traffic controller flies high after landing prize cheque

04th January 2013

Air traffic controller Tom Herbert is flying high after landing a £500 prize cheque for simply paying his water bills online.

The 26-year-old from Hurn, near Bournemouth, won a draw organised by electronic billing service MyBillsOnline.

Tom, whose partner Vikki is expecting their second child, said the money could not have come at a
better time.

"We'll be putting it towards a double pram which can also be used for our son, Charlie," said Tom who is a customer of Sembcorp Bournemouth Water (SBW). He works at the NATS (National Air Traffic Services) Swanwick control centre in Hampshire.

"It was a very welcome surprise to hear I'd won the prize. Receiving and paying your water bill online is very simple and easy," added Tom.

Roger Harrington, SBW’s Managing Director, said increasing numbers of customers were choosing to receive their water bill online.

He added: “We want to make it as easy for people to pay their water bill by whatever method suits them.

“MyBillsOnline offered a prize draw for our customers who signed up and I am very pleased that Tom is just the latest in a line of several local winners over the last few years."

SBW was one of the first organisations to sign up for the electronic billing service which gives customers a more convenient way to view, manage and pay their water bills.

The secure service is free, easy to use, doesn’t require multiple passwords and reduces the need to send paper bills through the post.
