Bourne Free to provide free drinking water thanks to new partnership

05th July 2022

Bourne Free has announced a new partnership with Bournemouth Water that will see free drinking water for attendees at this weekend’s event.

Taking place this Friday and Saturday (8 and 9 July) Bourne Free is an annual celebration of all diversities that live in Bournemouth and surrounding areas and the constant strive towards universal equality for all through entertainment and awareness.

The celebration will kick off on Friday with a Family Fun Night at Meyrick Park including entertainment, stalls, fair rides, food and drink, and much more.

Starting from 11am on Saturday, the walking parade will start at The Triangle, walking down past the Gardens, round to the Town Hall and finally up to Meyrick Park where the new ‘Pride in the Park’ location will be!

Working in partnership to support this year’s Bourne Free Goes Green theme, Bournemouth Water is encouraging attendees to bring refillable bottles and fill up for free at one of its four drinking water units, reducing the amount of single-use plastic at the event.

Bourne Free Chair, Neal Errington, said: "Bourne Free is thrilled with this partnership and cannot wait for the event to open on Friday in its brand-new home at Meyrick Park, it’s set to be a weekend of uplifting entertainment and somewhere where you can be your true self. Partnerships like these really go a long way when it comes to arranging a Pride Festival.”

Beth Lythgoe, Bournemouth Water LGBTQ+ Employee Network member, said: “We are proud to be teaming up with Bourne Free to support this fantastic event and the LGBTQ+ community right across our local area. We are looking forward to joining colleagues and customers this weekend and please do bring a refillable bottle to use one of Bournemouth Water’s drinking points."
