Discoloured Water - SP5 - Salisbury
Update 11:00 28/01/2022
We’re aware that some customers in the SP5 2 area of Salisbury are experiencing discolouration to their supplies due to a burst water main. We anticipate the repair to be completed in the next 4 hours and are on site proactively flushing our water mains to clear the discolouration.
The brown or yellow appearance is caused by the disturbance of natural sediments that can build up over time within the main. These are generally associated with metals such as iron and manganese and whilst not harmful, due to its appearance we don’t recommend that you drink it.
Once the burst has been repaired we will let you know and then to clear the discolouration to your supply by running the water from your cold kitchen tap until it clears. This can take up to a few hours and you can claim an allowance here: https://www.bournemouthwater.co.uk/advice-and-services/your-water/discoloured-water/run-off-allowance/
