Why are bills going up?

From 1 April 2026, water bills will rise to support the latest stage of our major investment programme. We know this will be difficult for some customers, and the decision to raise prices was not taken lightly.

The extra money from customer bills will support record £2.5bn investment in the years to 2030. We’re preparing the water network to face the challenges of the future, ensuring safe, reliable water supplies, healthier rivers and seas and resilience against climate change impacts.

This investment includes £760m to tackle storm overflows, reducing spills to less than 10 per year, per overflow by 2030. Find out more about our investment programme.

Lower your bill further with a meter

A meter can save the average family a huge amount of money every year. It also puts you in control of your bill, as you're only charged for what you use.
