Clean, reliable water for events and festivals

Stay hydrated with us and help to reduce plastic waste

Our water refill stations provide water for selected festivals and events around Bournemouth. This helps people to have a good time and stay hydrated, as well as reducing plastic waste.

Bournemouth’s festivals and events play a vital role in supporting our communities and the local economy. By providing refill stations at these events, we help to cut down on single-use plastics. This supports our commitment to the environment and reducing pollution.

Why reduce plastic waste?

Plastic is a very useful material, which is why it is used in every area of our lives. However, globally 46 per cent of plastic waste is sent to landfill and 22 per cent ends up as litter. This plastic ends up in soil, groundwater, waterways and the sea, causing harm to wildlife and potential impacts to human health.

The production of plastic involves fossil fuels and is an energy-intensive process. This generates greenhouse gases which contribute to climate change.

Festival dos and don’ts

If you’re heading to a festival or other community event, here are some ways you can help reduce plastic waste:

  • Take a reusable bottle to refill
  • Care for your tent and bring it home – don’t buy a cheap festival tent to leave behind
  • Choose food stalls with biodegradable packaging
  • Make sure you use the recycling bins provided
  • Let the festival organisers know that plastic waste is important to you

Events we’ve supported or plan to support:

  • Bournemouth 7s Festival
  • Bournemouth University Summer Ball
  • Bourne Free Pride Festival
  • Bournemouth Reggae Weekender
  • VDUB At the Pub
  • New Forest Marathon
