Bournemouth Water is making waves this summer by supporting events across the region in reducing the need for single-use plastics.
Over recent weeks, the company has played a vital role in keeping people hydrated at several popular events, including the Bournemouth Reggae Weekender and the British Life Saving Sport Surf Championships.
Bournemouth Water was also proud to support the LGBTQIA+ community at July’s Bourne Free Pride Festival, which celebrates diversity and inclusion in the local area while raising awareness of the issues affecting these groups.
These events were attended by thousands of people and community groups. Keeping them hydrated without the need for single-use plastics supports Bournemouth Water’s commitment to the environment and its aim to be carbon neutral by 2030.
Later this summer, the company will also be providing water to thousands of runners who will take on the scenic New Forest Marathon.
Sula Kasujja, Operations Director of the Reggae Weekender, said: "We extend our deepest gratitude to Bournemouth Water for their generous provision of free drinking water at the Bournemouth Reggae Weekender 2024.
“On one of the hottest weekends of the year, this thoughtful contribution was truly appreciated by all attendees. We eagerly anticipate future collaborations with Bournemouth Water."
Richard Stanbrook, Bournemouth Water’s General Manager for Drinking Water Services, said: “What we do is about more than just providing water. It’s about providing a service to the community we live in, so it’s great to be supporting some of our region’s biggest events again this summer.
“We take our responsibilities to reduce the use of single-use plastics seriously, and where there’s an opportunity for us to do that, we will.”
