Bournemouth Water is offering customers free water-saving devices designed to help households reduce water consumption and save money on bills when on a water meter.

As the prolonged dry weather and significantly below average rainfall continues across the region, Bournemouth Water is asking customers, businesses and visitors to use water wisely to help protect essential supplies.

The range of devices on offer include:

  • Shower Regulator – this is fitted to the base of your shower hose and is regulated to deliver a constant eight litres of water per minute

  • LeakyLoo Detection Strips - biodegradable and water-soluble strip that sticks to your toilet and highlights if you have a leak. Undetected leaks from loos can often be invisible to the eye and can waste thousands of litres of water and add hundreds of pounds to a metered bill over the course of a year

  • Flowpoint Shower Head - this can be fitted to a mains water-fed shower. They aren't suitable for electric or digital showers. The shower head has a regulated flow rate of seven litres per minute compared to the standard 12 litres per minute. By installing a shower head, you can potentially save more than 40 per cent of water that you would usually use per shower

  • Twin Tap Inserts - these can be installed on taps with unscrew able tops. They help regulate the flow to five litres per minute compared to the standard 10 litres per minute

  • Kitchen Stream Swivel Tap - save water on your kitchen tap with this 360-degree swivel tap aerator providing multi-directional spray.
