Water company builds on its support for LV=Streetwise
30th May 2013
Sembcorp Bournemouth Water (SBW) has added bricks to waterbottles in its support for an award-winning safety centre The water supply company already provides free, reusable water bottles to school pupils from within its supply area who visit LV=Streetwise in Elliott Road, Bournemouth.
More than 20,000 bottles have been distributed since SBW entered into partnership with the innovative centre in 2006. The company also provides annual sponsorship of £2,000 to LV=Streetwise.
Now SBW has added its name to the growing number of businesses and organisations backing the LV=Streetwise 'Wonder-Wall'. The 'wall' consists of single bricks which can be purchased for as little as £30 a month. Double length bricks cost £50. Every £20 raised covers the cost of a single child's visit to the centre which teaches children about the dangers inside and outside the home and how to take responsibility for their action.
Roger Harrington, SBW's Managing Director, said: "We are very happy to support Streetwise as their educational activity complements the water conservation programme we run in our local schools. We'd like to see all children become streetwise, as well as waterwise."
Alison Shelton, Manager, LV=Streetwise, added: "I am so pleased that Sembcorp Bournemouth Water continue to demonstrate their support both through the £2,000 annual sponsorship and by providing much sought after water bottles for children who visit us from schools in their supply area.
"The funds are invaluable in these difficult times and help to secure our charity’s future while the water bottles are spreading a very important message.”
Opened in November 1998, LV=Streetwise is a multi-agency partnership project inspired and created by Dorset’s emergency services, local authorities, health authority and more than 400 partners from the business community including LV=, the charity’s lead commercial sponsor.
