Weekly dry weather update: 16 August 2018

16th August 2018

Visitors to Christchurch Carnival on Saturday (18 September) are invited to visit the Bournemouth Water stand and take a water-saving pledge to be in with a chance of winning a £100 shopping voucher or one of three water butts.

Some of the pledges made by customers so far include:

• I will not insist that my kids are bathed every night
• I will recycle more water
• I will use my shower timer to spend more effective time washing and less time wasting!
• I will save dishes and wash more in bulk
• I will only use water butt water to water my plants

Bournemouth Water’s Head of Environment, Rob Scarrott, said: “Despite some recent rain, this summer has been very dry and warm. We want to thank all our customers for their support so far in helping save water. This helps save money but also leaves more in the environment.

“Overall our water resources are at a satisfactory level but we are still asking customers to use water wisely to help conserve supplies. The more water we all save now the more will be left for the rest of the summer.

“Gardening typically accounts for much of the additional demand we see over the summer, and this is where collectively we can make a big difference.”

The Bournemouth Water team will be on the Quay between 10am and 5pm.

The company is sharing its top tips for saving water in the garden and the home, which also saves money for customers on a meter.
