Water resources update

14th September 2018

Bournemouth Water’s Head of Environment, Rob Scarrott, said: “The summer holidays have come to an end and autumn is just around the corner. Despite some recent rain, May through to August was very dry and warm overall – the Met Office has declared the summer of 2018 as the joint hottest on record with 2006, 2003 and 1976.

“We want to thank all our customers for their support so far this year in helping save water. This helps save them money but also leaves more in the environment.

“Overall our water resources are at a satisfactory level but we are still asking customers to use water wisely. The more water we all save now the more will be left for the rest of the summer and into autumn.

“Gardening typically accounts for much of the additional demand we see over the summer, and this is where collectively we can make a big difference.”

The company is sharing its top tips for saving water in the garden and the home, which also saves money for customers on a meter. See our website for more information: www.bournemouthwater.co.uk/how-to-save-water/
