Are you ready for winter?

Don't let the cold catch you out!

We've had a long period of mild weather ... but winter is on its way.  Are you prepared?

A few simple actions can protect your home and help you to avoid frozen and burst pipes, and the waste and damage they cause.

  • Insulate water tanks and pipes, especially in unheated spaces - and make sure there are no draughts.
  • Fix dripping taps - even a small trickle can lead to a frozen pipe.
  • Make sure your boiler is serviced.
  • If you go away, leave the heating on low and get someone to check the property regularly. And make sure they know where the stop tap is.

Follow the Met Office’s guidance on protecting your home, by clicking on their logo below.

In addition, our ‘Wrap up for winter’ leaflet provides useful information about what you should do if you do have a burst or frozen pipe.
