Normally, we read your meter every six months. If you need a reading quickly because you’re moving, please call Customer Service on 01202 590059 and give us at least four working days’ notice.
We will either send you a bill soon after your meter has been read, or we will send you a statement if you pay by Direct Debit.
If we can’t read your meter for any reason, or if the meter stops recording, we will estimate your consumption for the next bill or statement. This will be based on your previous use or the best information available at the time.
We aim to read your meter every six months. We use the readings to work out how much to charge you for each half-yearly period. If you need to have your meter read quickly because you are moving home, please call Customer Service on 01202 590059, giving us at least four working days’ notice.
If you are connected to the main drainage, your meter reading is also the basis for your sewerage charges. This is because most of the water you use goes into the sewerage system.
Sewerage charges are based on a percentage of your water use to allow for garden watering or other outdoor uses:
Wessex Water – 95%
0845 600 3 600
Southern Water – 92.5%
If you don’t think that the figures shown above accurately reflect the amount of your water that goes into the sewer, please contact your sewerage company.
You are responsible for all the water recorded by the meter, the pipe that runs from your property boundary to your internal stopcock, and all the plumbing in your home.If you damage or misuse the meter, you will have to pay for repairs or a replacement.
The meter belongs to us and we’re responsible for maintaining or replacing it.
