Many water quality problems can be caused by internal plumbing. Certain washers and rubber seals in fittings can taint the water, for example. For more information, see Water Quality Taste and Odour.
All the internal plumbing is the responsibility of the property owner. If you need to find a plumber, we recommend the water industry approved plumber scheme .
Water quality can also deteriorate if water is not stored adequately in water tanks.
If your water looks cloudy, the most likely cause is a haze of tiny bubbles. This will clear if you let the water stand for a few minutes. If it doesn’t, please call Customer Service on 01202 590059.
Sometimes the water can become discoloured or cloudy if we have been working on or near your supply, or if there has been a burst main nearby. This normally clears very quickly when the system is flushed and you run your tap for several minutes.

If you have to run your tap for more than a few minutes, we can credit your account with the cost of two cubic metres (2,000 litres) if you ask us to.
