Why save water?

Using less water has important benefits for you, for your community and for the local environment. By saving water, you can:

  • reduce your water bills (if you’re on a meter)
  • cut your energy bills – heating water is the biggest use of energy in the home after central heating
  • support the natural environment and local wildlife
  • help keep our water supplies secure for the future

Don’t be put off if you can only save a small amount – if we all make small savings, together we can make a big difference!

Water is precious

Much as we all love warm, sunny weather, it’s important to be extra careful with water during prolonged dry spells. This is when everyone needs more water, but sources are not being replenished.

So while you’re watering the garden or watching the children have fun in the paddling pool, please spare a thought for the wild plants and animals that also depend on our waterways.

Should you get a water meter?

Water meters have important benefits for you, for us and for the environment as you can have more control over your water use and leaks are easier to detect.
