New mains provided by us

If you think your development may require a new water main, we can give you advice and lay a new main for you.

As the appointed ‘water undertaker’, we are responsible for all the water mains in our supply area. This means we have a legal duty to make sure that new mains are laid correctly, whether they are laid by us, or whether you choose the self-lay option.

If there is no public water main on your development site or outside of your property, you may want to apply for a new water main, commonly referred to as requisitioning. We can design and construct the new water main for you through the requisition process.

To be eligible to apply for a water requisition, you must be building two or more properties that have not previously benefited from a water supply from Bournemouth Water.

You can also employ your own contractor to self lay water mains and services, please click here for details.

If you require a new or replacement water connection to a new or existing main, head to our water connections page.
