Non-designated sites

As part of our duty under the Natural Environment and Rural Communities (NERC) Act 2006, we manage our non-designated sites to maximise biodiversity. This includes:

  • cutting grass twice a year and leaving dead stems and uncut areas for insects
  • putting up nestboxes, creating habitat piles and reptile refuges
  • digging wildlife ponds
  • planting hedgerows and woodlands
  • leaving standing dead wood where possible
  • creating wildflower meadows
  • controlling non-native species

Water meters have important benefits for you, for us and for the environment as you can have more control over your water use and leaks are easier to detect.
